Job Description

What you’ll do

  • Perform portfolio analysis and research on the private asset portfolio, such as asset allocation, market trends, performance assessment, benchmarking, and peer comparison.
  • Support the development of the Investment Plan which sets the Total Fund asset mix targets, capital plan targets, and risk budgets.
  • Prepare reports and presentations to communicate portfolio insights and recommendations to senior management and investment committees.
  • Collaborate with private investment teams and regional offices to understand their risk and return characteristics, which includes exposure to a wide array of asset classes – real estate, private equity, infrastructure, and natural resources – as well both developed and emerging countries
  • Participate in a broad array of projects within TFM and across the fund
  • Conduct peer / competitor analysis to understand relative performance, asset allocation, etc.
  • Monitor and assess the impact of private and public market developments and industry trends to help inform portfolio decisions.

 

What you’ll need

  • A university degree in finance, economics, mathematics, or a related field.
  • Working towards a professional designation, such as CFA, FRM, or CPA, is an asset.
  • Minimum 1 year of work experience in investment analysis and research, portfolio management, or related experience.
  • Keen interest in financial markets, asset allocation, and portfolio research.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with proficiency in Excel and PowerPoint. Familiarity with programming languages is an asset.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication and presentation skills. It is critical that the role is able to articulate solutions to complex ideas effectively. The role will be required to engage and develop working relationships within TFM and other investment departments.
  • Very organized with an ability to balance competing priorities, work independently, and thrive in a team environment with strict deadlines.
  • Curious and eager to learn, with the ability to adapt and embrace change, and to seek and provide feedback.
