This 10 hour course is intended to cover all fundamental skills and knowledge on basic SAS programming, including accessing, managing, summarizing, and analyzing data from different sources, and visualizing results in presentable formatting. You will gain hands-on experience on using SAS Studio, writing SAS queries, exploring and validating data. Financial industry data will be used in practical projects and case studies. After the training, students will be enabled with fundamental SAS skills to pursue any analytical positions that require intermediate SAS programming skills.

Each session has a duration of 2 hours.

Session 1 – SAS Overview

• Introduction of SAS Programming interfaces – SAS Studio

• SAS Syntax

• SAS Data Overview

• Accessing Data using SAS

Session 2 – Data Preparation

• Data Step Processing

• Computing New Columns

• Common Numeric Functions for creating columns

• Common Character Functions for creating columns

• Common Date Functions for creating columns

• Conditional Processing

Session 3 – Analyzing and Reporting on Data

• Common Procedures of analyzing data

• Macro Variables and Functions

• Exporting data to Excel

• Connecting to database

Session 4 – Using SQL in SAS

• Basic SQL syntax

• Common functions with SQL

• Joining tables using SQL in SAS

Session 5 – Projects & Interviews

• Apply the knowledge from prior session to build Hands-on analytics projects using SAS

• Common interview questions and tips will be discussed
